Nugget's Story

Meet Nugget.
Nugget is a little over a year and is an absolute cuddle bug. A really good day in Nugget’s book would be exploring on a hike, playing a few good games of Tug, and cuddling on the couch.
He is an active dog but craves connection.

Strengths:
-Good food drive
- Good toy drive (loves tug and fetch)
- Knows basic obedience (sit, down, here, climb, drop, leave it), ecollar conditioned as well.
- Absolute cuddle bug
- Good with other tolerant dogs
-Good with cats
- Potty trained
-Crate trained
- Rides well in the car
- Very smart!
- Good around kids

Struggles:
-Minor separation anxiety (was major but has greatly improved)
- Does not do well in boarding environments (he lived on and off in one for his first year and it did a number on him)
- Pretty insecure (he has some stranger danger but warms up pretty quickly)
- Afraid of the trash truck
- can climb a 4.5 foot fence and can climb chain link.
- Has a history of redirecting when he thinks a correction is unfair but he has not done that since being out of a kennel environment.
- Alert barks when spooked
- Does not like being restrained

Nugget had a really rough start in life. He was found in a drain culvert at about 7 weeks extremely emaciated. The finder’s living situation did not allow for another full time dog so he lived at a boarding facility and had a lot of kennel time while they tried to work through some severe separation anxiety issues. It was pretty bad. Now that he is in a home environment he is thriving! This sweet boy needs someone to give him a chance. He craves connection and wants to be your best friend. He is a fantastic adventure partner!

He is great around kids but due to their unpredictability and risk of spooking him awake we would advise only older kids

Nugget would benefit from a foster to adopt situation to make sure he is a good fit. He will have training support available to help ensure a successful placement
