Nova lives it. 🩷🐾

This beautiful brindle girl was a stray at a Detroit firehouse for several months. She was smart, cautious, and incredibly good at keeping her distance. No matter how hard people tried, Nova wouldn’t let anyone get close.

Until one day, the firefighters noticed something was very wrong.

Nova was limping horribly. 💔

It was eventually discovered that this sweet girl had been hit by a car. Somehow, she had been surviving on the streets all alone — navigating the world with a shattered front leg and an unimaginable amount of pain.

We conditioned her to a live trap, and when the moment finally came, Nova walked right in.

We wish we could say that was the end of the hard part.

It wasn’t.

Nova ultimately needed to have her front leg amputated to relieve the pain caused by the damage. She also has arthritis in her hips as a result of the accident.
