Nova's Story

Meet Nova, a 1-year-old Catahoula Leopard Dog/Heeler mix with a beautiful spotted coat and the perfect size at just under 30 pounds.

Nova is smart, playful, and affectionate. She loves playing in the water, wrestling with other dogs, going for walks, and working on a puzzle toy or chewing on a favorite bone. She also loves chasing a herding ball around the yard. When the day winds down, shes just as happy to curl up beside you on the couch or snuggle into your side in bed.

Nova can be nervous when meeting new people, especially if someone she doesnt know is giving her direct attention. Give her a little time to settle in, though, and youll get to see who she really is. Shes goofy, incredibly sweet, and becoming more confident all the time. Every positive experience helps her continue to come out of her shell.

Like many herding breeds, Nova is smart and enjoys having something to do. She likes training, picks things up quickly, and would likely enjoy agility or other dog sports if thats something her family wants to explore. She has that typical herding breed mix of busy energy when its time to play and the ability to settle down for a nap when the day is over. Shes curious, likes to explore, and enjoys learning new things.

Nova does great on walks and walks nicely on a leash. She is crate trained and sleeps quietly in her crate through the night. She does best when shes crated near another dog and really enjoys having canine friends to play with. Because of that, shed likely do well in a home with another playful, confident dog.

Nova is still young and continues to gain confidence as she experiences new places and people. Shes looking for a family that will provide companionship, structure, and reassurance while she continues building confidence. If youre willing to give her a little time at the beginning, youll be rewarded with a fun, loving dog who will happily join you for adventures before curling up beside you at the end of the day.

Novas adoption fee is $300. She is spayed, microchipped, current on vaccinations, heartworm tested negative, fecal tested negative, and receiving monthly heartworm and flea prevention.

To apply to adopt Nova, visit www.barkindogs.org.
