Nova's Story
Meet Nova, a sweet 7-year-old, approximately 45-pound mixed-breed girl who is ready to find a loving home where she can continue to blossom. Nova has spent time in a home with many other dogs and is dog social. She does best with a little understanding and respect for her personal space, and she communicates appropriately when she needs a break. She would likely enjoy having a similarly sized, dog-savvy canine companion, and MHS can help determine whether she and your dog would be a good match.

Nova can be fearful when faced with new experiences, but she has already made wonderful progress. When she first arrived, she was very scared and needed several days to feel comfortable with handling. With patience and encouragement, she has learned to accept being leashed and harnessed, and she now welcomes and even leans into affection, especially chin and neck scratches. She is also becoming increasingly comfortable meeting new people. Now that she is settling in, Nova is very social with strangers and happily walks up to greet them politely.

Nova has no known history with cats or children, so those relationships are currently unknown. She is a healthy girl overall, although she has had very limited veterinary experience. Her fear means she benefits from a calm, patient approach and plenty of breaks. During a recent exam, she did beautifully with an outdoor setting and frequent breaks to play fetch between each part of the exam.

Nova is a gentle girl who is learning that the world can be a safe and wonderful place. With a patient family willing to let her build confidence at her own pace, she has the potential to become a deeply affectionate and rewarding companion.
