Nova's Story
Name: Nova
Breed: Rottweiler/Pit Mix
Sex: Spayed Female
Age/Weight: 6 months, 40lbs

Personality
Do you remember Nova? Just two months ago, she was adopted, but through no fault of her own, Nova has found herself back at the shelter. Nova still has everything that made her special the first time around: a heart full of happiness, a trusting nature, and an enthusiasm for life that's impossible to miss.

Her original profile described her as curious, confident, and affectionate, and all of those things remain true. But we’ve learned even more about this girl since then, and one thing stands out in particular: Nova is SMART! She already knows sit and down and is learning off. She catches on quickly, listens well, and is making great progress with house training. She’s a quick learner and she’s eager to engage with the people around her.

Nova is also incredibly sweet. She LOVES people and approaches life with the kind of energetic, exuberant joy you’d expect from a puppy. She wants to play, explore, and be part of whatever you’re doing. Whether you’re looking for a family dog or an adventure buddy to join you on hikes, outings, and everyday activities, Nova has the potential to be a wonderful fit. Honestly, we can picture her thriving in a variety of homes, provided her people are ready for life with a growing puppy.

Behavior
Let's talk about the puppy part, because it's important! Nova is energetic and enthusiastic, and yes, she jumps. She's still a baby learning how to navigate the world, and sometimes her excitement gets the better of her. The good news? She learns quickly, responds well to guidance, and has already started learning basic manners. With consistent training, patience, and positive reinforcement, we believe she'll continue to make wonderful progress. House training is going well, and she's already building a foundation of basic obedience. She'll need adopters who are committed to continuing that work as she grows.

We also believe Nova may do well with other dogs. She played wonderfully with her brother in her previous home, and we frequently catch her trying to initiate play with the dogs on the other side of the fence at the shelter. As always, a meet-and-greet with any resident dogs will be important to ensure everyone is a good match. She also hasn't displayed a prey drive, so she may even do well with cats, though we cannot guarantee this.

Here's the thing about puppies: they're adorable, funny, loving, and full of potential, but they also require time, dedication, supervision, and consistent training. Nova's previous family was unable to meet those needs, and she was returned to us. We want her next home to be her forever home, so please make sure you're prepared for the realities of raising a puppy before bringing one home.

History & Health
Nova originally came to the shelter with her dad and brother and was adopted out with the hope of starting her next chapter in a loving home. Unfortunately, she has since been returned. At just five and a half months old, she has her whole life ahead of her, and we're determined to help her find the lasting home she deserves.

Nova currently weighs 43 pounds and is still growing. She's up to date on her vaccinations, spayed, and has no known health concerns. Nova has so much going for her: she's affectionate, confident, clever, playful, and full of joy. She deserves a family who will love her through every stage of puppyhood and help her grow into the incredible dog she's meant to be. Could that be you?

*We are unable to view pet Finder inquiries at this time. If you are interested in a pet, you can come to the shelter during opening hours; appointments are not required.*
