Nova's Story

Nova

2 year old Spayed Female
Pitbull Mix

This beautiful girl came from the stars (aka dumped near the rescue, just showed up), and she's truly out of this world beautiful! Nova is a little shy at first, and scared to be pet until she knows she can trust you not to hurt her. If you've met many dumped dogs, you know the vibe.

Once she's comfortable, Nova is sweet as can be, and super gentle with even puppies at the rescue. Nova LOVES other dogs, and would prefer to go to a home that already has a confident, outgoing dog, or a young puppy she can hang out with. She is ok with confident adult cats, but older children are a little more her thing. Rowdy young kids who yell are still scary for her.

Nova came already understanding the doggy door at the rescue. She takes herself out when she has to go, then comes right back in to flop down and snooze in the kitchen. She loves raised dog beds, and stuffed toys she can shred. Nova really isn't a barker after the initial 'someone's in the driveway!' noise settles down. She's a little nervous of crates and leashes, but will tolerate them with some gentle coaxing. We don't know what happened to her before she was dumped, but it seems like her history wasn't very kind.

We've not seen any aggression from her, nor food related behaviors, but she did watch some neighbor's chickens with just a bit TOO much interest while we were initially working on trapping her.
