Nova's Story

Meet Nova! A 2-year-old, 40-pound cuddlebug who has truly mastered the art of being a professional couch potato! Nova is fully housebroken, wonderfully relaxed around food, toys, and bones, and she has absolutely no interest in being destructive. Her favorite activity is simply being wherever her people are—preferably curled up on the couch with a blanket and some cuddles!

Nova LOVES children and bonds very deeply with them. She loves snuggling on the couch and even sleeping under the covers with her little human friends at night. Because of how much she adores kids, she would do best in a home with children who can become her special people.

She also does beautifully with other dogs and would really benefit from having a canine companion to help her feel safe and comfortable. She is respectful and playful with her dog friends. She does well with cats too, showing little to no interest in them, and she has even peacefully shared a home with a potbelly pig!

Nova is still learning the ways of the world. She is working on leash walking and learning not to pull, and she’s still getting comfortable with her crate. She may bark or whine for a little while, but eventually settles down. She also needs some patience when meeting new people. She can be nervous at first and will bark to let you know she’s unsure, but she warms up with time. She takes a little longer to trust men and is working hard on overcoming that fear.

A fenced yard would be wonderful for Nova, although she isn’t wild or overly active in the house and could do well in an apartment. She loves playing in the water, enjoys a kiddie pool, and absolutely LOVES car rides!

Nova is looking for a patient, loving family who will give her the time she needs to feel safe and blossom. Once she trusts you, she will be your little shadow and your sweetest snuggle buddy. She’s just a big-hearted potato looking for her people—and she’s ready to love them with her whole heart.
