North's Story

A GENTLE SOUL READY TO BLOOM WITH LOVE

Hi, I’m North — a gentle, quiet girl with a silly side and the sweetest smooshy face you’ll ever meet.

I’m living in a foster home right now, and it’s helping me learn how wonderful life can be. At first, I’m a little shy and need a few minutes to feel safe, but once I trust you, I love soft pets, gentle affection, and following you around with a happy little smile. I’m curious, friendly, and secretly pretty goofy once I relax.

I love other dogs — they make me light up! I get so excited when I see them, and I follow my doggy friend Lumi’s lead in just about everything. In fact, Lumi helps me feel brave, so a home with another friendly dog would make me very happy.

I’m an explorer at heart. When I’m outside, I love trotting around the yard, sniffing everything, and enjoying a little freedom. But I also settle nicely in my kennel and enjoy relaxing most of the day. I’m not into toys or chewing, and I don’t guard food or items. I mostly graze throughout the day and can be a little picky, but I’ll take my medicine in wet food with some encouragement.

I’m still learning leash manners — I can walk on a leash, but I’d love someone patient who can teach me not to pull. Loud noises, storms, sirens, and all those scary things? They don’t bother me at all. I’m respectful of fences, I enjoy car rides, I don’t drool, and brushing feels just fine once I trust you.

The humans say I’m an “average barker,” which really just means I bark when everyone else does. I spend most of my time outside, I know how to use a doggy door, and I always try to wait for yard time to go potty.

My foster mom says her favorite thing about me is how sweet I am and how I seek out love once I feel secure. I’m a sensitive soul with a huge heart, and I’m ready for a family who will give me patience, kindness, and a doggy friend to help me shine.

If you’re looking for a gentle, curious, loving girl who will blossom with a little time and trust, I’d be so excited to meet you. I can’t wait to find my forever home — and keep smiling my silly little smile for the people who love me.

Great Pyrenees Rescue of Atlanta's Adoption Policy
Great Pyrenees are the southeasts best kept secret. We are a magnificent and majestic breed that is one of the best dogs a family can own - we really are. We are gentle giants loved by all because we combine two characteristics that are hard to beat. First, we are terrific family pets. We are lovable and gentle with children - we love them even when they treat us like massive fluff balls! Second, and where we differ from most house pets, we are protectors. I tend to be the witty observer but my big brother Jenkins is a typical Great Pyrenees and he is amazing as he patrols our property watching for anything unusual. He takes his job very seriously. Great Pyrenees were bred as working dogs and our "job" in the home is to protect our "family". We have regular adoption days - usually every other Saturday from 11am until 1 pm at the Perimeter Petsmart in Atlanta, GA visit our website to see current adoption days

Our Mission
Our main mission at GPRA is to find the right permanent home for Great Pyrenees in distress, whether they are strays or from an overpopulated kill or no-kill shelter. We don’t care how old they are or what their medical condition is because we will make sure they receive a comprehensive medical evaluation, spaying or neuter...
