Nora and Sanders (Bonded Pair)'s Story

He was found as a stray near a farmer’s chicken coop, hence his name. He and Nora, who was abandoned in the woods with her littermates, are a bonded pair.

Nora is approximately 2 years old. She was nervous and timid when she first arrived at her foster home, so to help her build her confidence, her foster family started fostering Sanders, who turned out to be timid as well. However, it soon became apparent that Nora was the “leader of the pack.” Whether it’s time to go outside or time to go to bed, Nora is usually the one leading the way!

As their trust in their foster family grew, they became even more confident and comfortable. Sanders has learned that human attention is a good thing, and when he’s ready to accept pets, he usually bows down and lies on the floor. Nora asks her foster mom for cuddles and scratches behind the ears, and she loves belly rubs.

Both are crate-trained, though when they are first crated, they don’t hesitate to voice their objections! They do settle down after a while and wait patiently for their foster family to return home.

Sanders and Nora are housetrained, but do have occasional accidents. They go outside every 3-4 hours, and that helps reduce the number of accidents. Normally, they take their potty breaks in the backyard, so they will need a fenced-in yard at their new home. Both will walk on leash, and we highly recommend using a harness when walking them. Nora is more comfortable leash-walking than Sanders, though Sanders is getting better – he definitely takes his cues from Nora!

Nora and Sanders have come so far during the short time that they’ve been with their foster family, and it’s been a joy to see. They are looking for a home together that will help them continue to build their confidence with patience and understanding so they can blossom even further. In return, they promise to be loyal, loving companions.

NOTE: Dog may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI).
