Nona's Story

Meet Nona Some dogs don't need much time to show you what they're made of. Nona is one of those dogs.

This pretty girl is a reddish-brown Australian Cattle Dog mix with a petite 35-pound figure, beautiful eyes, and a personality that makes her very easy to fall for.

Nona came to us from the Navajo Reservation after her elderly owner had to move into assisted living. Through no fault of her own, this sweet girl suddenly found herself looking for a new family.

Nona is around 2 years old and has that wonderful combination of intelligence, affection and attentiveness that makes Cattle Dogs such special companions. But what really sets Nona apart is just how easy and loving she is. Her foster parents describe her as exactly that—an easy, loving dog.

She is timid when meeting someone new, but warms up quickly. Give her attention, encouragement and a little praise, and you can practically see her light up. She is eager to learn, eager to please and very happy when she knows she's made you proud.

Nona loves her walks - she is curious, doesn't bark, lets people walk by her on the sidewalk, and loves to meet dogs, but doesn't insist. She's perfectly content to mind her own business and enjoy the outing with her person.

Nona also doesn't need another dog in her home, but after two weeks, her foster parents are realizing she wouldn't mind! She is comfortable around other dogs and currently lives with a middle-aged male Lab. She is still learning to play both with her people and other dogs and toys but is coming along quickly on all those fronts. She's most interested in her people and would be perfectly happy being your one-and-only pup.

At home, Nona is proving that she's ready for the good life. She is house trained in her current routine, with only two potty accidents on her very first day. She is also so well behaved that when her foster mom is away, Nona's favorite place to nap is right on the bed. And yes, she's earned that privilege!

Pretty good on a leash – no barking and just a little critter chasing
Comfortable with other dogs but doesn't need a canine companion
House trained in her current routine
Smart, attentive and eager to learn
Very affectionate and quick to bond
A perfect, manageable 35 pounds
Well behaved enough to earn bed privileges!

If you're looking for a loyal companion who will happily walk beside you, curl up with you and make you feel like the most important person in the world, Nona would love to meet you.

If you would like to adopt, please complete an adoption application at https://www.circle2rescue.com/dog-adoption-application/ Adoption Fee: $250, which includes: Spay Age-appropriate vaccinations Deworming Microchip
