NOLA's Story

Nola is a 2-year-old female American Bully who may look a little intimidating at first glance due to her large size, but underneath it all she’s a gentle, affectionate girl who enjoys human interaction on her own terms. She came in as a stray and has been easy to handle overall—she leashes up without issue, though she does pull and will benefit from some leash training. Nola especially enjoys back scratches and will lean in for more attention, showing her sweet and social side, and she can be pet comfortably with no issues. She does prefer that people avoid petting her directly on the head, as she tends to shy away from that, and she also doesn’t like things coming into her face. Nola already knows “sit” and “shake,” showing she has a nice foundation to build on. When meeting another dog, she was mostly indifferent but didn’t appreciate an overly playful puppy getting in her space, so a dog-to-dog meet is required to ensure a good match. Because of her size and boundaries, she would do best in a home without small children and with adopters who can respect her comfort levels. Nola is a strong, beautiful dog with a calm, affectionate nature, looking for a home that will understand her and help her continue to thrive.
