Nog's Story

Born outside during a cold Ontario winter, Nog is a survivor thanks to her amazing Mom who almost lost her life caring for her pups. Mom is a middle aged dog that solely lived outside and was nothing but skin & bones when she and her litter of puppies arrived into rescue care. Mom & some of the other littermates joined other rescues and Mattie's Place welcomed Nog and her sister Egg.

Mom had a DNA test completed: 50% Rottweiler, 30% Labrador Retriever, 19% American Pit Bull Terrier. Dad Unknown.

On arrival December 23rd Egg weighed in at a tiny 1.9 KG- 4 pounds. At her next vet appointment, January 8th, she is flourishing and weighed in at 4.60 KG / 10 pounds! At her vaccine booster appointment, February 10, she weighed in at Nog - 9.7 kg / 21 pounds. At her final vaccine appointment, March 16th, she weighed in at 15.5 KG/34 pounds.

I don't know what her adult weight will be, but presumably she'll be in the 60 pound adult dog range.

Her DOB: 11-25-25

Nog is a puppy, so she will need someone home most often being so young still so she can learn all she needs to learn at this informative stage in her life. An adopter willing to work with a professional trainer is a preference, so I'm certain she will grow into a respected adult dog. She will fit into most lifestyles; kids | dogs | cats | various humans, as she's just a baby.

Nog is now fully housetrained, but accidents with puppies will happen when moving to a new home with adoptions and she'll need to learn where your "out" is and how to navigate your home to potty outside. As well as you will both need to learn how to communicate with one another to understand when she has to potty.

She is a calm, confident pup in her home, but can be nervous in new surroundings and with new people.

Her non-negotiable spay, that will be noted in the adoption contract, will take place in May 2026 at the cost of Mattie's Place, again, at my veterinarian in Unionville. Adopters are expected to transport to vet appointments. The dates will form part of the adoption contract.

If you're looking for a darling pup, Nog should certainly be a dog to consider! Just be sure you understand all the work & commitment that comes with adopting a puppy.

FROM THE FOSTER PARENTS:

Miss Nog is a sweet, shy, loyal girl.

Since being with us we have watched her personality flourish as we see her into new experiences. While she does show some hesitation in new situations, she also displays a great amount of confidence once she is feeling safe.

She loves her people once she bonds with them and loves to follow us around while we do tasks.

She is very intelligent and shows us this more and more each day.

She sits on command and is working on her down, wait, stay, come and crate commands.

This girl is mouthy while she's teething and will put anything and everything in her mouth, whether it belongs there or not.

We have exposed Nog to the other dogs and cats in our household and she has adapted well to them. She was nervous to interact at first, but once she knew she was safe and secure she warmed up fast!

She does well with the cats, however in this puppy faze she at times is inclined to jump on and chase them as they move so fast and she thinks they are better than a lot of her toys. Most of her cat time though, she had great interactions with them and was seen cleaning their ears and sniffing their head.

Nog has met a couple dog friendly kids and, while cautious, she warmed up to the more laid back child who took the time to earn some of her trust.

Overall this girl is a wonderful pup who loves her humans and is very intelligent!

------------------------------------

$875 ADOPTION FEE INCLUDES: spay/neuter, deworming, flea/tick prevention, vaccinations, dentals if needed or any added surgical needed surgical care, food, nose to tail health exam, toys, leash|collar, winter coat (seasonal), poop bags, dishes and 30 days of Trupanion pet insurance with immediate coverage on adoption day for any illness or injury not pre-existing.

----------------------------------------

To note: the above description is relevant to this dog in it's current & previous setting. Home changes & adopter personalities can bring out different behaviours not previously seen.
