Nina's Story

Meet Nina!

Nina is a gorgeously leggy, poodle-y mix rescued as a young puppy and she was quite ill. Nina matured and when she was old enough to travel, made the trek to Toronto. She’s currently in a foster home in the city, lovin' life as an east-ender and looking for the right family!

Athletic and intelligent, as a poodle mix, Nina needs physical and mental stimulation to be happy. She's very rewarding to work with, and she is a fantastic walker! She's quick to learn, food motivated and would likely excel at agility of K9 sports, and she’d absolutely thrive on the challenge. At about 18 months old and 26 lbs, she’s a great size – not too big to be ungainly and not too small to be precious. If you need a fitness buddy to count your steps or be a witness to your fitness, Neen's your girl!

She is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped and 4Dx negative. Nina is also fully house trained, and crate trained. When her foster mom goes out, Nina gets a Dentastick or a Bullystick and happily scampers to her crate and then settles quietly for several hours, if needed. She’s not a big barker and is easy to live with. Her foster mom leaves the radio on for her (she and her foster fur sibs like Jazz FM).

Nina’s still got that puppy energy about her; she can be mouthy and jumpy, and this is a work in progress. She currently lives with other dogs but we recommend that Nina is the only dog in her new home, so she gets the attention she needs and deserves. She does not get along with cats. Due to her age, energetic nature, and her specific needs, we’re searching for a home without young kids. Dog-savvy kids 10+ would likely be fine, they can tire each other out. Nina is a truly fabulous dog, she loves her people and her toys and lots of interaction! She would do well in a house or an apartment, she’s been both a country and a city girl in her short life. She’s just needs the right fit -- she’s a fabulous dog for the right family and we know they’re out there.

Nina’s fee is $650.00. She's available for adoption in the GTHA only. If you think you’re the right fit for this her, we'd love to hear from you.

You can visit our website for lots more photos and info and to download an adoption application: http://www.saveafrienddogrescue.org/dogs-for-adoption.html

Follow us on Facebook at for more information on our rescue and some more photos and videos of Nina: https://www.facebook.com/saveafrienddogrescue
