Nina's Story

The biographical information provided is correct to the best of our knowledge while the animal is in our care or includes what may have been provided by a previous owner. We strive to be honest and accurate, but animals can change their personalities and behavior when they settle into a new home. IDR+ makes no guarantees based on the information we observe and provide.

Meet Nina—aka Nina Ballerina! This adorable tan-blonde beauty is a 2.5-year-old Chihuahua weighing about 10 pounds, and she’s the perfect mix of sweet, funny, and quietly charming.

Nina can be a little shy when meeting new people, but once she feels safe, her loving personality truly begins to shine. She’s been in foster care for a while now and is slowly—but surely—coming out of her shell. Every day she grows a little braver, learning just how wonderful love and companionship can be. She isn’t clingy or demanding, but she forms a special bond and will be a loyal, comforting presence in her person’s life.

She gets along beautifully with dogs of all sizes and would especially love a gentle companion closer to her size. She enjoys playing with her Pomeranian friend but is also perfectly happy hanging out with larger dogs, like her 70-pound Elkhound buddy. Nina would truly thrive in a home with another kind, playful dog to help continue building her confidence.

Nina does have a playful prey drive and will chase cats, so any feline siblings should be dog-savvy and comfortable setting boundaries. She means no harm—she just thinks it’s a fun game!

This little entertainer keeps herself busy with bones, chews, and her favorite squeaky toys. She’s incredibly athletic (seriously—this girl can jump!) and runs like a tiny gazelle. She’s smart, eager, and would likely love learning tricks or engaging in fun training games.

Nina absolutely loves being outside and is convinced that one day she will catch that squirrel! She’s also doing very well with potty training and does not require a crate, especially with a consistent routine.

We look forward to working with you. IDR+ is a network of foster homes; therefore, we do not have a location to visit.
