Nina's Story

Meet Nina, the kind of puppy who believes the best place in the world is right next to you. This sweet girl is a big, lazy cuddle bug who melts into your arms like she was made for them. She's calm, cozy, and perfectly content to nap the afternoon away... until it's time to play. Then her tail starts wagging a mile a minute and her whole face lights up with pure puppy joy. Nina has that beautiful balance of snuggly softness and happy energy, making her the perfect little shadow for someone who wants love, laughter, and lots of couch cuddles.

HISTORY
Nina's DOB is 01/09/2026. Her mom is a dachshund, and we are unsure about dad's breed make up. She was born into a litter of 3 and has been in our care since they were only a week old.

Nina is fostered in Tri-Cities, in Eastern Washington. We share information about our dogs in postings based in other cities to improve their chances of finding a great forever home. She is well worth a road trip, and we encourage you to come and meet her before you decide she should join your family!

SOCIALIZATION, TEMPERAMENT AND TRAINING
Nina currently shares her home with small and large dogs and gets along beautifully with everyone. She is a pretty easy going and mellow girl that really values a good belly rub or snuggle session over getting rowdy. But once she's ready to be rowdy, her tail wags and wags and wags.

Nina's foster home also has children, and she has been socialized with the kids since she was just a few weeks old. As soon as momma felt comfortable allowing the kiddos to handle puppies, they were involved in the handling and care of the little family.

Nina has been exposed to a crate but has been crated as a group with her mom and siblings. We are confident she will learn to be comfortable in one alone once she is in her forever home with some consistency and training.

Nina is just a baby; she is young and eager to learn how to be a good family dog. She'd love you to take her to school so she can learn ALL the skills she needs to be her best self. This would be beneficial for you as her pet parent(s) as well so that you can learn to communicate effectively with her and teach her to be confident.

It's important to remember: Nina is a puppy, and PUPPIES ARE HARD WORK! This little one is just getting started - she has sharp nails and needle teeth and loves to pounce on shoes and grab hold and tug on anything that moves! As far as she's concerned, anything and everything is for play. She still has everything to learn about being a civilized member of a mainly human family. She will trip you up, piddle on your rug, and chew your stuff. Please don't apply to adopt Nina unless you're sure you have the time, energy and desire to raise her right!

HEALTH STATUS

General info
Nina is up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, and dewormed. She appears to be in good health. At full grown, she will likely weigh around 10-15 lbs.

HART does not support pediatric spay/neuter, so Nina has not yet been sterilized. As part of the adoption contract, you will be required to have her sterilized by 6 months of age. HART will refund $100 upon receiving proof of sterilization if requested.

ADOPTION
The adoption fee for Nina is $425. Our process starts with an online application and may take a few days to a week to complete. We appreciate your patience while we do our part.

To apply to adopt Nina, please complete our online adoption application at https://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/HAWA-A-85 or email HearthfireART@gmail.com
to request an adoption application form.

HART dogs live in foster homes, not in a kennel facility. To respect our fosters' privacy, we make our dogs available to meet adopters only after an adoption has been approved.

HART (Hearthfire Animal Rescue Team)'s Adoption Policy
All our pets are in private foster homes. HART does not have a facility. For this reason, we introduce pets to potential adopters only after the adoption application has been approved. Our process involves: # A detailed application form, which must be submitted electronically # An online background check # Reference checks (calls to your vet, landlord, and at least two personal references) # Interviews with all the adults in the home (and, if the pet is intended primarily as a child's companion, we talk with the child) # A home visit, conducted at our discretion by a member of HART or a trusted rescue colleague Most of our pets are located in the Tri-Cities (Kennewick/Richland/Pasco) in Eastern Washington, and we place pets only in homes within the Pacific Northwest. As needed we may arrange for a trusted member of our team to transport a pet to an adopter, at the adopter's expense. We do not ever release pets to a third party for transportation; we personally introduce every pet to their adopter. HART is a registered 501(c)3 charity. We depend on adoption fees and donations to continue serving our community. We do not have an office or facility, and our team is made up only of volunteers. Our entire income goes to helping animals.
