Nicolas's Story
Nicolas is a 1-2 year old Terrier mix, likely with some Yorkie. He found himself at Beeville Animal Control after a Good Samaritan witnessed him being abused by unhoused person. Unfortunately this sweetie sat there for two weeks and nobody claimed him. Since they only have 5-6 kennels he would quickly lose his spot be euthanized for space, so our rescuer stepped in and saved him.

Nicolas is very playful and just wants to play all the time. We think he would be best in an active household and would benefit from a canine brother or sister, or two. He does have an off switch when you put him in his kennel. He can be submissive with other dogs but is a rough, vocal player. He has an affinity for squeaky toys, perhaps too much?

This good boy is good on leash, good with kids, and would make a great apartment dog. He does wear a belly band and does great with it! He needs to be monitored outside or he will dig a hole to freedom!

Our best guess is that Nicolas is perhaps a Yorkshire Terrier mix (he's bigger than a full Yorkie)- but playing 'guess the breed,' for street dogs is really hard!

Nicolas has traveled up from San Antonio, Texas, for a new life in the sunshine and mountains of Colorado! He is being fostered in Denver, available to meet!

***Nicolas is being posted on behalf of our partner rescue in Texas- the process and adoption will go through them. The adoption fee does not include the transport fee (usually $125-200/dog).***

Red Fern Animal Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit foster-based animal rescue in Denver that saves animals from abandonment and neglect in South Texas for new lives in Colorado. We primarily rescue dogs off the streets and from kill shelters in San Antonio.
