NICO's Story

SENIOR NICO IS A PURE HEART

Nico is a 13-year-old, 27 lbs. poodle mix who embodies kindness and resilience. Despite his senior status, he maintains a moderate activity level and a genuine enthusiasm for life. He is a truly loving companion who thrives on human connection and interaction.

Nico is exceptionally friendly and affectionate. He is comfortable around men, women, and children of all ages. His social nature extends to other dogs and he has successfully lived with cats in the past. While he is generally easygoing, he can exhibit some possessiveness specifically regarding high-value treats, so a managed environment during snack time is recommended.

He is house-trained and, while he can use pee pads if necessary, he much prefers going for walks outside. He does well on a leash and deeply enjoys his daily exercise. He is also a calm traveler and behaves well during car rides.

Because of his previous living situation where he was left alone for long periods, Nico is experiencing severe separation anxiety. At this stage, he cannot stay alone for long and will bark feeling abandoned. He requires an adopter who is either home a lot or can provide a slow transition plan to help him feel secure again. With patience and a consistent environment, Nico has the potential to rediscover his confidence.

He is looking for a quiet home where he can spend his retirement years surrounded by the love and presence he deserves.

Nico is neutered up to date on all vaccinations and microchipped. Nico needs a calm adult home, Another easy dog or a dog savvy cat in the family would be ok. No apartments or condos.

If you have the time, the love and the dedication for NICO please fill out an application at: https://gerdysrescue.org/adoption-form/

No direct message inquiries, please.
We adopt to Montreal and surrounding areas only.
We will only respond to applicants who match the requirements.
