Newton came to us as a rescue to rescue transfer. Another rescue helped out temporarily when his family could no longer keep him, and then reached out to us. We were happy to be able to help!

Hi, I’m Newton! I’m a 5 year old mixed breed looking for a forever home of my own! I’ve had a bit of a rough start to life—I had spent a bit of time in a shelter before my family adopted me. They loved me dearly, but unfortunately a lifestyle change forced them to have to give me up. Thankfully, they did the right thing for me & found a foster home for me to go to!

I’ve been in foster for a short time now & have adjusted really well despite everything I have been through! I am initially a little shy & reserved when meeting new people. I do however bond very quickly & closely to new people. I love to be with my human, I even walk right next to their side! I I have amazing leash manners—I even ignore the squirrels when I walk & also am very well behaved in a home!

I am fully housebroken & also crate trained. I would love a mellower household that doesn’t have a ton of foot traffic. I would make a great partner for someone who’s looking for a dog to go on occasional hikes with, throw the ball around a bit for, & then hang around inside! I haven’t had a ton of experience with kids so would likely do best in an adult home or with older large breed savvy kids (preferably 16+). While I don’t mind the company of other animals, I’m not much of a player with other dogs. I may be willing to share my home with another mellow dog, but am also happy & content being your one & only!
