Nero's Story

Meet Nero!

If you're looking for a loyal companion whose favorite place in the world is right beside you, Nero may be your perfect match.

Nero is a sweet, gentle senior dog with a soft heart and an even softer personality. He isn't interested in chaos, adventure, or being the center of attention. What Nero wants most is a quiet home, a cozy place to nap, and someone to love.

He is the definition of a Velcro dog. Once he bonds with you, he wants nothing more than to be nearby, whether that's curled up on the couch, sunbathing in the yard, or quietly following you from room to room.

Nero's Story

Nero came to rescue after his owner surrendered him when new puppies were brought into the home.

While change can be difficult for any dog, it can be especially hard for a senior who has spent years knowing one life and one family. Despite this transition, Nero has continued to show just how loving and resilient he is.

Now he is looking for a family that will give him the stability, comfort, and love he deserves for the rest of his life.

Nero's Favorite Activities
Cuddling with his people
Napping in a cozy bed
Sunbathing
Being carried and doted on
Quiet time at home
Relaxing beside his favorite person
Following his humans around the house
Enjoying a peaceful, predictable routine

Nero is not a high-energy dog. He is happiest when life is calm, quiet, and full of love.

What Nero Is Working On

Nero has adjusted well to foster care and is doing well with both house-training and crate training.

Because he can be nervous in new situations, his foster family continues to help him build confidence and feel secure.

One important thing to know about Nero is that when he becomes frightened, his instinct is to run. Because of this, he should always be on a leash or in a secure, fenced area when outdoors.

His foster shares:

"He can be very nervous and if scared he will run. I recommend if he's outside, he's always on a leash."

Nero also prefers quieter environments and may bark initially when meeting new people or encountering unfamiliar situations, but he warms up quickly once he realizes he is safe.

Nero's Ideal Home

Nero would thrive in:

A calm, quiet household
Adults or families with older, respectful children
Someone looking for a devoted companion
A home with a predictable routine
People who enjoy relaxing at home

Nero does well with cats and would be happiest with other calm dogs who enjoy peacefully coexisting rather than roughhousing and constant play.

He likes children but is not particularly interested in playing with them and would do best in a home without very young children.

Why You'll Love Nero

There is something incredibly special about senior dogs.

They don't need much. They don't ask for much.

What they offer instead is quiet companionship, unconditional love, and gratitude that is hard to describe.

Nero is gentle, affectionate, and happiest when he's close to the people he loves. He may take a little time to settle into a new environment, but once he does, you'll gain a loyal shadow who wants nothing more than to spend his days by your side.

If you're looking for a sweet, calm companion to share your couch, your heart, and your life, Nero is waiting to meet you.

Apply to adopt Nero today!

Apply to adopt at tailsofhopewi.org

Nero is currently fostered in Spring Grove, MN.

Please note donations using the SPONSOR ME tab on PetFinder will not go to Tails of Hope-WI.
