Neo's Story
HELLO, I'm NEO.

I came into rescue from Winslow covered with ticks, leaking ugly diarrhea, and I was starving. I was hiding under a shrub with my buddy Max.

However, all that changed when YHT rescued me, got me to a vet, and started taking great care of me. I look so great now (you wouldn't believe the early photos)!

I am about 1 year old, and I am neutered. I weigh 40 ish pounds. I am a beautiful mix of breeds.

After I got healthy, I got to join Shelby at Candid Canine for some training and assessment. She says I am "sweet as pie."

She also said I am gentle, low-key, sensitive dog who likes to take his time getting comfortable with new people and places. I'm sweet from the beginning, but just give me a little time and suddenly you’ve unlocked my adorable wiggles.

My idea of the good life is pretty simple: a cozy place to sleep, a yard to explore, an occasional walk, lots of “good boys,” and access to my beloved water bowl. I do LOVE water (maybe because for so long it was hard to find).

Shelby says I'm not looking to be someone’s hiking buddy or next sport dog. I would be happiest with someone who simply wants a companion and best friend. I'm perfectly content hanging out at home, and if you need to leave, I settle beautifully in my kennel until you get back.

I'm crate trained, potty trained, travel well in the car, and have already mastered sit and place. I've shown no reactivity, resource guarding with people, separation issues, or aggression.

Shelby also says I would be perfectly happy as an only dog. I may also do well with a calm, easygoing female dog with a thoughtful introduction.

My biggest request from my future person is simply patience. New environments take me a little time to process, so I need someone willing to let the relationship develop at my pace.

Once I know what’s expected of me, I do beautifully.

Because Shelby really wants to see me succeed, my adopter will receive 3 private lessons with her through Candid Canine Training to help with my transition and continue my training. I just love her!

I've been a stray so I will definitely need a secure fence and safe home.

I am available for adoption or a committed foster through YHT.

If your idea of the perfect dog is a gentle, easygoing homebody who wants to quietly become your best friend, I might just be your perfect match. If you think so, please fill out the form below:

Can you foster me?

https://www.yavapaihumanetrappers.org/foster-application

Or ready to move right into an adoption?

https://www.yavapaihumanetrappers.org/preadoption-application
