Neo update! Super handsome Neo is a lotta dog! He is high energy, smart and very loving. Neo is about 1.5 years old now, 22 inches at the shoulder, and a lean 45 pounds. We are guessing that he is maybe a boxer/shepherd cross. Neo came to New Hope neglected and with an injured leg/illium. Despite many weeks of trying different therapies, unfortunately we had to amputate his left hind leg. He is now pain free, recovered completely and has no physical problems. A missing leg does not slow him down. He can do anything that a four legged guy can do and a rib scratch on the side of his missing leg is very well received! He loves all people. He’s is too much for small children, but has met older children and done great. Neo is housetrained and crate trained, although he is now allowed to be free in the house when we are not home and has been a gentleman. As an active guy, we are looking for an experienced home that is able to meet his need for mental and physical exercise, and continue with his training. Neo knows sit, down, look at me, come inside and leave it – he’s a bit choosey about listening to the last one! Neo sits nicely but pretty wiggly for his food bowl and when we give him puzzles, snuffle mats, and treat balls. He’s just excited. We have learned some creative games in the yard to expend his physical energy. He is definitely sight oriented but also has a great nose for finding treats in the yard. Neo has been swimming for therapy and loves it; he also loves splashing in a paddling pool in our yard in the summer and now has a great time bombing around in the snow. Neo’s daily walk is important to him, but he is a big puller and needs work there and he is very strong. He could be a good jogging companion because it is a bit easier for him as a tripod to move faster than a leisurely walk. After play and food, Neo is happy to curl up on the couch, and snuggle on the big bed at night. Are you Neo’s perfect home? Apply – he is a beautiful great dog.
