Thankfully, they made it to Stop the Suffering—but their journey isn't over yet.<br/><br/>Today, both boys are being neutered. Nelson is also having surgery to repair painful entropion in both eyes and a hernia. Oscar is being treated for an enlarged prostate, which we expect his neuter will help resolve, and he has urinary crystals (no stones) that should improve with quality food and good hydration.<br/><br/>They're going to be just fine medically.<br/><br/>But emotionally...they're struggling.<br/><br/>The veterinary hospital where they're boarding has a policy that doesn't allow bonded dogs to share a kennel. Volunteers are spending time walking them together whenever they can, but when those walks end, Nelson and Oscar have to go back to separate runs.<br/><br/>And that's the part that breaks our hearts.<br/><br/>These boys have spent years together. They sleep together, play together, and find comfort in each other. They've already lost their home. They shouldn't have to lose each other, too.<br/><br/>They're about 5 years old, each under 25 pounds, love every person they meet, and do wonderfully with other dogs.
