Nelson's Story

My foster mama has called me Meathead since I can remember. I think that's good! She say's I'm the goodest boy and a little chonk. I just like to eat, ok? I love to follow her and talk to her when I'm stuck in the playpen while he's doing other things. I like to give kisses and cuddle. I will be be the best adventure buddy!" I'm ready for my forever home!

Small black dot left ear

Thank you for your interest in adopting a puppy from us! As the pups mature over the next few weeks, we will update their profiles with info about what we are learning about each of them individually. Currently we are taking applications, but no decisions will be made for several weeks. We ask that you be patient during this time due to our staff being shorthanded for the number of dogs we are currently committed to. All apps will be reviewed but we kindly ask to refrain from following up until after October 1st. Right now, our focus with this family is taking care of the pups and making sure mama is given everything she needs considering they started off in a shelter.

Please note that any person who is approved and adopts a puppy from us will be under a strict spay/neuter agreement, and it is not negotiable. Our dogs will be altered according to our guidelines and there are no exceptions; between 8-10 months old. We must follow the laws in place for shelters and rescues and therefore will not allow adopters to potentially harm the status of the organization. We do understand there is literature out there that may not agree to our guidelines, but we must abide by the law and by what is in the best interest of a rescue dogo!

Again, thank you for the interest you have in adopting from us!

Dogos are a wonderful breed but we urge anyone interested to dig in and do a lot of research before deciding if they are a good fit for your home. They require a lot of attention and training with them never ends! Boundaries must be enforced and they often need reminders as they push past boundaires you set! Dogos are loving, kind and gentle but don't mistake that for weakness because they are equally powerful and intense as well! Everyone in the home must be on board with having a dogo and play a major role in their daily routines and training. Yes it is work, but the rewards are ten-fold! Lazy homes don't work for dogos as they need stimulation, exercise, and lots of attention too during their younger years. Our goal in rescue is to be as transparent as we can about each and every dog plus make sure new families really understand the needs of a dogo!
