Nasa (Neutered)'s Story

Nasa is a handsome one-year old male Labrador Retriever mix who was brought to the HSOV late in the afternoon on July 9, 2024 by a Good Samaritan who found him on River Road in the Lowell Ohio area (one mile towards Devola). Unfortunately Nasa was not wearing a collar, and he was not microchipped.

This good-looking young man has a sleek black coat with a narrow white stripe on his chest, a long tail, and an adorable face with dark brown eyes, a black button nose, and short floppy ears.

Thanks to HSOV Kennel Tech Emily Beaver for accompanying Nasa for outdoor photos shortly after his arrival. Nasa was initially a little frightened when he was led into our shelter (and who could blame him since he had no idea what was happening and didn't realize everyone was doing their best to keep him safe and reunite him with his family).

Nasa weighs 47.8 lbs. He made a noble effort walking on a leash for Emily and loved attention from our kennel techs when he spent a little time in the lobby receiving attention from them.

In compliance with the Ohio Revised Code, Nasa will be held for three days so that his family will have an opportunity to reclaim him with proof of ownership.

Nasa was neutered on September 22, 2025 and was also given rabies vaccine.

Update: Nasa went home with a foster family on April 28, 2026 so that he could enjoy being in a nice home environment instead of a shelter kennel or floor crate while he is waiting for someone to offer him a forever home by adopting him.

Nasa returned to HSOV on May 22, 2026 after enjoying a month-long vacation with his foster dad, and we know that both of them were sad when their vacation ended for they truly loved each other. Nasa's foster dad gave him an A+ on his 'report card' and wanted potential adopters to know what an awesome Nasa really is (and hard to believe that he has been overlooked in our shelter)

After Nasa had some time to decompress from the shelter life, many of his true personality traits were apparent:

- Mr. Nasa knows how to pose for photos and is a natural for the camera lens.

- Calm and easygoing on car rides.

- Loves belly scratches and chew toys. Even likes playing fetch occasionally.

- Doesn’t mind being crated at night, although he’s spent most of his time
lounging around on the couch or running in the open fields.

- Slow introductions are needed with all new people since he can be
somewhat apprehensive of strangers.

Nasa is available for adoption through the HSOV. Since Nasa is already neutered, he could leave our shelter immediately with an approved HSOV foster/adoption application.
