Nala - In Foster's Story

Breed: American Bulldog mix
Age: 2 years
Gender: Spayed Female
Weight: approx. 60-70lbs
Energy Level: Medium-High
Adoption Fee: $150

Am I good with:
Cats: No! She has high prey drive
Dogs: Yes (Meet and greet required)
Children: 5+ durable kids, she can be jumpy and loves to lick their faces, especially when they are at her level!

About me: Nala is a true queen in both confidence and affection, ruling her world with smarts, energy, and a whole lot of love. This active, athletic girl is incredibly intelligent, very food motivated, and eager to please, which makes her a joy to train with consistency. She adores her people and firmly believes her rightful place is snuggled right on top of them when she’s not busy playing outside, especially if there’s snow involved, which she absolutely loves. Nala enjoys walks and does best with clear guidance, thriving after a good daily walk or solid outdoor playtime, and she would be happiest with a fenced yard where she can run and play chase with dog friends. She gets along well with other dogs, is generally calm on walks, and may bark when new people enter the home but is not aggressive. Due to a strong prey drive, she must go to a cat-free home. Nala does well with routine, has picked up potty habits beautifully, tolerates baths and nail trims with ease, and can handle short periods of crate time when her needs are met, though too much boredom can lead to mischief. She would do best in an active home or with another dog to help keep her busy, engaged, and happy, because a bored queen will absolutely find her own entertainment.

-

The Animal Rescue Project (www.animalrescueproject.org) is committed to the best possible veterinary care for the pets it rescues and it is looking for adopters who will be similarly committed.

Adoptions are NOT first come, first served! We seek to choose the best fit for the approved adopter and pet.

Please understand that these animals are still new to us and their needs and requirements can change at any time as we learn more about them. We will try our best to get them updated online as soon as possible.

All dogs and puppies are given a general check-up when they enter our program.
They receive medication to remove any intestinal parasites (worms), fleas, and ticks they may have. Dogs greater than six months of age are checked for heartworm. If heartworm positive, the Animal Rescue Project treats the disease. Dogs and pups receive all age-appropriate vaccinations for distemper, and dogs greater than four months of age are also vaccinated for rabies, in compliance with State of Michigan laws. All dogs are also microchipped.

Most dogs and older puppies are spayed or neutered before adoption. In the case of puppies not old enough to be safely sterilized, a $50 deposit is required at the time of adoption and is refunded to the adopter with proof of sterilization.

The Animal Rescue Project requires every adopter to establish an active relationship with a veterinarian no later than 10 days after adoption. Adopters will receive a plan for routine veterinary care at the time of adoption and are expected to work with their vet to complete the plan.
