Nala's Story

Those bright blue eyes may catch your attention, but Nala’s loving heart is what will stay with you.

This beautiful 11-month-old Husky/Shepherd/Pit Bull mix loves being close to her people. After she’s had a chance to get some exercise, you’ll see that softer side of her—leaning right in for pets, soaking up affection, and enjoying time together. Our own Ann spent time with her and put it simply: "She’s a lovely dog."

Nala came to UPAWS after a change in her owner’s work situation left him with little time for her. He described her as super loving and attached to her people—a girl who just wants love. Now she’s looking for a family with time to share walks, play, and all those everyday moments that make a dog part of the family.

Still a youngster, Nala has plenty of energy and some puppy manners to learn. She can pull on leash and get mouthy when excited. Regular exercise, patient guidance, and positive training will help her practice those skills while building a bond with her new people.

Nala is interested in making dog friends, too, although her enthusiasm can be a little much! She lived with a senior dog and didn’t always know when playtime was over. Staff have already seen her relax and become playful during carefully managed fence introductions. She’ll need slow introductions and help learning polite dog manners. Any canine housemate should be tolerant and comfortable with an enthusiastic young dog.

She has lived with children, but her bouncy play may overwhelm little ones. Please bring your children to meet her. Her experience with cats is unknown.

Nala has so much affection to share. Give her a chance to stretch her legs, spend a little time with her, and let her show you the sweet girl behind those beautiful eyes.
