NIght's Story

COURTESY POST FOR BORDER COLLIES IN NEED
NOTE: Night is only available within an hour's drive of Santa Barbara, for reasons explained below.
Night is a testament to the resilience of the canine spirit. He came from cruelty and neglect, but after a long journey he is loving and friendly and ready for a home worthy of him.
Night was probably used as a breeding male in a puppy mill. He is beautiful but his teeth have wire marks. He has an old poorly healed broken leg and a beebee in him. His tail had to be partially amputated due to a badly infected wound.
Despite this, Night is a happy social guy -- although it's taken nearly a year of patience and love to get him there. He was scared of cars (think: cage). He didn't trust people to walk up to him (now he goes to them seeking affection). The world was cruel to him so he had to learn that there is also love and kindness.
Night is about 2 years old. He weights 57 lbs, so he's on the large size for his breed. He's housebroken and great on leash. He will go in a crate, but I rarely do it given his history. He is great with other dogs, and good with kids, but toddlers might be too much for him. He will chase cats.
Because of Night's rough past, he will need a gradual transition to his next home, which is why he needs to be adopted within an hour's drive of his foster home -- otherwise the logistics just don't work.
If you are interested, please email with some basic info about your situation: what city you live in, who all lives in your home (including ages), what other pets you have if any, if you have a fenced in yard and if so, how high your fence is, and what kind of daily activity you plan to do with your dog
