Mystery is a two year old male with a boxer style face, a rusty red coat with a white chest, and the most expressive eyebrows in the building. His name might be Mystery, but there is nothing mysterious about what he wants, which is to be as close to his people as possible with a toy nearby and a hand resting on his back. At roughly 55 to 60 pounds he is a solid, huggable medium large boy. He is friendly with other dogs and does well with kids, so he has the makings of a true family dog. He also seems to be house trained, which his future family will appreciate from day one. Mystery is a happy, easygoing guy who sits for attention, leans into scratches, and smiles for every camera pointed his way. He would love a home with people to dote on, a yard or regular walks to burn off his playful side, and maybe a canine buddy to hang out with. Thank you for your interest in adopting from Petersburg Animal Care & Control! We’re so glad you’re considering giving a shelter pet a loving home. We do not charge an adoption fee; however, all animals must be spayed or neutered prior to adoption, and the cost of the procedure is covered by the adopter. We’re happy to support adopters by coordinating appointments with our low-cost veterinary partners for spay/neuter services and other basic care needs. Adoption Process • We prefer to schedule appointments for meet-and-greets to ensure that staff or volunteers are available to spend adequate time helping you get to know the animal. • When you arrive, please sign in and wait to be escorted by a staff member or volunteer before entering the kennel areas. • For safety reasons, please do not reach into kennels or attempt to touch animals through barriers. If you’re interested in a particular pet, our team will bring them to a meet-and-greet area for proper introductions. • After your visit, you’re welcome to submit an adoption application. Applications must be approved before we can schedule a meet-and-greet with your family pets. • Meet-and-greets with personal pets are by appointment only, and for safety, two staff members must be present to handle all animals involved. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to make each match the best fit possible — both for our animals and their future families.
