Mykie's Story

Mykie: 430 Days Was Far Too Long to Wait

For more than 430 days, Mykie sat in a Texas shelter watching other dogs come and go. Day after day, month after month, she waited.

Maybe it was because she’s a black dog. Maybe because she’s a pit bull mix. Maybe people simply walked past without stopping long enough to see the incredible dog staring back at them. Whatever the reason, Mykie spent over a year being overlooked.

But then someone noticed. Someone saw the joy in her eyes, the wag in her tail, and the love she had been saving for a family of her own. They gave her a chance, and now this beautiful 2.5-year-old terrier mix has made her way to Vermont, hoping her forever family is finally out there.

And trust us: they are going to be very, very lucky.

Mykie can fit herself into almost any lifestyle. Want a couch companion? She’ll happily snuggle under the covers, soaking up every ounce of affection. Looking for an adventure buddy? She’s ready for hikes, walks, road trips, and outdoor fun. She loves everyone she meets and seems determined to make up for lost time.

Dogs? Friends. Cats? Friends. Kids? Friends. If there are kisses to give, Mykie is first in line.

She’s house trained, crate trained, eager to please, and loves learning new things. She walks well on leash but is still building confidence after spending so much of her life in a shelter. She’d love a family willing to keep showing her how wonderful the world can be.

What makes Mykie special isn’t just that she’s a good dog. It’s that after everything she’s been through, she still chooses joy. She still trusts. She still loves with her whole heart.

After 430+ days of waiting, Mykie hasn’t given up on people. Now she’s hoping someone won’t give up on her. She’s spent long enough being overlooked. It’s time for her to be cherished.

If you’re looking for a loyal best friend, champion cuddler, professional kiss-giver, and a dog who will remind you what resilience looks like, Mykie is waiting. Let’s make the next chapter the one she’s waited 430 days to begin.

Potters Angels Rescue's Adoption Policy
Before you fill out an application please be sure that a Rescue is the option through which you are going to choose to add an addition to your family. We are all volunteers at Potter’s Angels Rescue- most with full time jobs and families in addition to volunteering and going through the entire adoption process with an applicant that then purchases a dog takes up a fair amount of precious time. We would like our volunteers to focus their efforts and time on those applicants that are serious in helping a rescued animal. Here at Potters Angels Rescue, we strive to adopt our animals out to the best matches possible for them. This means that an animal other than the one who initially catches your eye may be a better fit for your home
