Murphy's Story
Murphy here, in search of my people! What a ride it’s been, literally, all the way from an AL shelter. Things have been so scary but I’m feeling great. I’ve been decompressing and finding my confidence with my older foster sisters. I’ve realized I’m a PUPPY! I’m loving a routine and plenty of play time. My day pretty much goes like this…sleep in with my sisters (on the bed of course) until Mom gets up. Quick break outside, wait patiently sitting while breakfast is prepared. Eat, and wait for everyone to finish. I get a few treats and show off my mastered sit, down, and paw skills. Rush to the door for some outside play time. Nap time! You see how it goes from here. Sometimes Mom has places to be so I take a nap in my crate. I am a super smart, sweet boy. Love my toys, especially balls. I LOVE to play ball. Soft toys, well, I will dismantle them and possibly swallow some pieces in the process so sturdy toys are best. I know my name, what no means, do not touch things that don’t belong to me, and am very quiet and gentle. I’ve met a few new humans and really liked them. However the sound of little kids in the neighborhood really scares me. Ok, I do still have a couple other fears to work on, but I know with your patience I can do it. Those fears include: getting in or out of the car- once I’m in I sit or lay down quietly. Doorways, I wouldn’t go through them by myself in the beginning. Now I have no problem but new doorways still scare me a bit. See, I’m a pretty great, special little guy! My foster Mom says I’m so easy and lovable. I’m so very happy to be in Maine playing in the snow and getting over my past. Hope to meet you soon! PS, you probably know I was so scared in the shelter, I will be scared at first when I meet you. But you should see me at home! Love Murphy, Murph, Little Man.

Murphy would likely do best in a quieter home with older or no kids and a family that has the patience to help socialize him to the world, as he is nervous of new things. Murphy would do best with another confident dog in the home to help him gain confidence. He was cat tested in AL and was curious but nervous of the cat so we think he'd do okay in a home with cats. Murphy is a mixed breed pup that is estimated to be about 8 months old.

If you think you might be interested in adopting Murphy or just want to get pre-approved to adopt through us, please fill out an application on our website. Approvals are valid for one year and you will not have the waiting period of an application if you see a dog that you like! Approved adopters are placed on our email list for each transport and receive our Google slides that we send to all pre-approved adopters before posting on Petfinder and our social media and are eligible to attend our meet and greet events.
