Murphy's Story

Hi, my name is Murphy! I'm a RED pawprint, which means I will fit well into a home that meets some specific criteria. Here is what would work best for me in my new home:
-Personality: Shy at first, snuggly

-Can Live with Kids: Unknown history - recommending kids around 12 years and up.

-Can Live with Cats: Unknown history - may be okay with a slow and supervised introduction.

-Can Live with Dogs: Murphy has been an active participant in our playgroup so we believe he would do well in a home with other dogs - slow and supervised introductions always recommended! Initial greetings will be done at WHS to ensure all dogs get along.

-Can do Apartment Living: Not recommended due to size and higher energy.
-Potty Trained: Seems to be.

-Bite History: No

-Positive Reward Based Obedience Classes Required: Highly recommended but not required.

-Energy Level: Moderate

-Needs Medical Procedure Before Going Home: No, ready to go!

-Additional Information: Initially reserved, Murphy takes his time to warm up to new people and environments. However, with patience and understanding, he reveals his true nature—a loving and loyal friend who enjoys being close to his family. Once he trusts you, expect plenty of cuddles and affection. Murphy arrived to us as a stray so we are unsure about his history. For his new forever home he would do best in an active family that can continue positive reward training to help with his confidence.

If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application on our website (www.whatcomhumane.org/adopt) or in person at our facility. We recommend calling into the shelter after your application has been submitted so our front desk can give you next steps on our adoption process.
