HAWK IS READY TO MEET HIS FOREVER FAMILY!! <br/>I know exactly what you are thinking...."Another pit bull". But trust me, I am soooo much more than that. With that said, I am proud to admit that as part pit, I am an excellent representation of the breed. So, sit back, grab a nice cool beverage and let me tell you alllll about ME!! I survived 3+ weeks on the mean streets after having been left in a home for an unknown amount of time without food (escaping said home), I took care of himself with the help of some friendly people along the way. I was clipped by a car, destroyed my paws on asphalt, battled just about every infection known to dog-kind, and suffered severe abuse at the hands of a less than nice human. I'm not willing to relive the nature of my abuse but suffice it to say that my reactions and mannerisms indicate a less than desirable living situation was had. What I will share is that at one point in my earlier years I had been well cared for and loved because I am alllll about my humans and will follow my foster mom around like we are stuck together!! Somewhere along the lines I just ended up in the wrong hands. <br/>When I was found, I weighed an embarrassing 42 lbs. YES, you read that correctly....imaging my shock when I was finally able to look into a mirror and see myself!! I was also pretty timid, quite sick and still injured from the "hit n run" I survived. So naturally… I was named after Sylvester Stallone’s character the tough, traveling, strong-willed, Lincoln Hawk. Foster mom says the vibes were spot-on because Hawk was a warrior who navigated himself through the pits of hell (as did I). Fast forward 5 months and let me tell you.....I stop at every mirror I see to admire myself now! I have gained TWENTY-SEVEN POUNDS and look like one handsome dude. I have discovered the joy of kibble (and snacky-snacks) and have learned so much in this short time. Most importantly, I have learned what safety and love looks and feels like again! I will still drop to submission during fast movements or abrupt loud sounds; but have learned that loud and fast does not mean harm, but my new home will need to understand my sensitivities and be patient as we work together through some hard memories. OH!! I have discovered a newfound love for a good squeaky toy, my favorite being his giraffe that I carry with me everywhere. (no judging lol). I love indulging in a good bone and will toss it around without cowering to the loud sounds it makes (I am can be a goofball too lol). I am not a big fan of hats, dark glasses or hands over head. They make me low growl and retreat backwards. Foster mom says I am quick to redirect and adjust and of course, if a snack were to be involved, I'm forever grateful! I LOVE to play with my humans, male, female, or anyone in between!! Kids? Due to my size, foster mom feels that kids over the age of 10 would be best. Not because I don't like them (quite the opposite) but I would be devastated if I accidently hurt a smaller one! After all my illnesses, I have finally found my groove with food!! I now eat 3-4 cups of food a day, and I'm more than happy to tell you EXACTLY when breakfast should be served and I have strong opinions about snacks! I have foster mom trained and will ask to go outside just to come back in for my snack bwahaha. I have learned some (according to you humans) great commands such as learning to sit and wait for my food like a gentleman, giving paw and will gladly melt by rolling over for a belly rubs. I have shown no aggression with toys and enjoy hanging out with my 5 (yup FIVE) foster dog siblings!! And these canines are pretty large!! My tail never stops wagging when I'm with other dogs and humans!! Cats you ask?? Well, we aren't quite certain about that as I am very, very "excitable" when I see one, but I have yet to decide it if's just to chase and play or not. Let's talk breed mixes. Everyone I meet says I look like Staffordshire Terrier/Vizsla/Hound mix. I think I also may have some Lab lineage due to my eagerness to please and my loving personality! Foster mom says I may also be part kangaroo (springs for legs)! and 100% Velcro dog (if there is such a breed?). My potty habits are good as long as I have ample opportunity to go outside to go potty, I've not has an accident in the house and will whine at the door to tell you it's time. I am currently sleeping in a kennel at night but if your bed is big enough, I would love to help keep your heating bills down and snug with you! AND I also love a nice Sunday ride in the car! It still amazes me how I "load up" at one location and when I "unload" I'm somewhere else,,,,you humans are amazing !! <br/>So, to recap; If you want a dog who is sweet, goofy, bouncy (with the intelligence to learn whatever you give him the chance to learn) and extremely cuddly, loves dogs and humans then give Brooke a call at 330-429-3998. … come meet me!. 🐾❤️<br/><br/>To help set Hawk up for long-term success, prospective adopters must meet the following guidelines:<br/>• Be at least twenty-one years of age<br/>• Provide proof of an established veterinarian relationship<br/>• Provide proof of home ownership or provide landlord contact information for approval allowing a dog of Hawk’s size and breed mix<br/>• Agree to register Hawk with the county in accordance with local regulations on the day of adoption<br/>• Complete and sign an adoption agreement;<br/>The adoption agreement will specify that Hawk’s ownership remains with the individual(s) listed on the approved application. If, at any time, the adopter is no longer able to provide a safe, stable home for Hawk, he must be returned to us so that we can ensure a safe and appropriate transition.<br/><br/>These guidelines are in place solely to protect Hawk and support a successful, lifelong placement and avoid further trauma.
