Mr General ***foster or adopt***'s Story

Meet "Mister" General!

Some dogs have a quiet dignity about them, and Mister General is one of those dogs.

This handsome 11-year-old, 43-pound mixed breed (beagle?) was originally adopted from Canine Collective several years ago and enjoyed life as a beloved family companion. When his owner's circumstances changed, he found himself back with us through no fault of his own.

General has good house manners, is crate-trained, walks beautifully on leash, knows his basic commands, takes treats gently, and is simply a pleasure to be around. He loves leisurely walks, soft beds, gentle brushing, and spending time with his favorite people.

You may hear General bark when people are nearby and he's confined, but don't take it the wrong way-he simply wants to be part of the action. Once he's out with you, he's content to relax and enjoy your company.

Since returning to our care, we've seen General be reactive to some dogs in the kennel environment, so we think he'd likely do best as the only dog in his home. However, volunteers have consistently reported that he's much more relaxed around other dogs when away from the kennel. At a recent adoption event, after initially barking at another dog, General quickly settled down and calmly ignored him for the rest of the event. Like many shelter dogs, the kennel environment may bring out behaviors that aren't seen once they're out in the real world.

General recently had a comprehensive senior wellness exam, including bloodwork and heartworm testing, so his next family can adopt with confidence knowing his health has been thoroughly evaluated.

If you're looking for a loyal, easygoing companion to share your days, Mister General is ready to make himself at home by your side. General is available to foster or adopt.VApply today at caninecollective.org.
