Unfortunately, he recently had bladder stone surgery and the stone analysis showed that the stone type he had will recur. So he will need to be kept on a prescription urinary care dog food (including extra water). Also, he will need regular x-rays and urinalysis done in order to detect the stones. If they are caught when they are small then they can be flushed out rather than require surgery. Mr. Darcy is a good dog who needs help with housetraining. He needs a very patient adopter who is experienced with dachshunds and willing to deal with him like you would train a puppy. He is currently on a diet and has lost eight pounds! He still needs to lose more so any adopter will need a history of keeping their dogs slim and trim.<br/>He is a very sweet boy who favors women is but learning that foster dad can be a good buddy. Enjoys car rides and walks well on a leash. He is energetic and happy and his weight loss has given him new pep! He really needs an at-home-adopter and good-sized fenced yard. An older dog buddy would be good but not needed if adopter spends a lot of time at home. He loves to sleep in the big bed. He takes time to warm up but is a sweet snuggly guy once he lets his guard down. He really needs an adopter with a big heart to give him a chance. *** Mr. Darcy is being fostered in Maryland. All things considered, local adopters will be given preference to facilitate a home visit. Applicants must be willing to drive to Ellicott City, Maryland (10 miles south of Baltimore) to meet and adopt him.***. Want to know more about Mr. Darcy: no fee for 60+ adopter?
