Mouse's Story

Mouse - Mini Wirehaired Dachshund Mix - Female - 2 Years - www.twyla.org

If you'd like to know more about this dog please visit our website at www.Twyla.org

Are you looking for a dog who follows you around so closely you’ll never be able to enter a room alone again? How about a dog who practically teleports into your lap the second you sit down? If so, Mouse is your girl. All she wants is to be wherever you are.
Mouse is about 2 years old, likely a Miniature Wirehaired Dachshund and Chihuahua Mix, she is filling out at around 8 lbs. Mouse is happy to just relax most of the day, but as she decompresses in her foster home, her foster mom has been excited to see more and more zoomies and play sessions breaking out throughout the day.
Mouse has been through a lot in her few years and that’s left her nervous around men and a little jumpy in general. For that reason, we don’t think she would be a good fit for an apartment or townhouse where walls are shared because new/unexpected noise have her barking and running for the hills. We think she would do best in a quite home with a confident four-legged friend to help her learn that she doesn’t need to be afraid anymore.
Mouse bonds very quickly to women, and we believe she will warm up to a calm man as well, as long as he is patient and willing to offer lots of treats. She loves children, but we would prefer them to be a little older, so she doesn’t get hurt since she is so small.
Mouse does well in a crate and in the car. She is working on potty training and gets it right about 80% of the time. She really wants to please but has a very small bladder and we don’t think she’s had much practice learning to hold it prior to being in her foster home.

***Please note: All dogs are fostered in private homes of volunteers, so to meet a dog please fill out an Adoption Application on our website (http://www.twyla.org/adopt/our-adoption-process) so we may setup a private meetup with the dog or coordinate for an Introduction at the next general Adoption Meet and Greet (as listed on our website: (http://www.twyla.org/upcoming-events), as not all dogs attend all Meet and Greets***
