Moss's Story

Meet Moss!

Some dogs arrive with dramatic backstories… and some are simply discovered like tiny woodland creatures wandering into civilization. Moss was found abandoned at a local Dollar General, but despite his rough start, this sweet hound/shepherd mix has held onto his gentle heart and hopeful spirit.

At approximately 1 year old, Moss is the perfect blend of shy sweetheart and playful goofball. New people can make him a little nervous at first, but give him a little patience (and maybe a toy or two), and you’ll quickly discover the loving, loyal boy hiding beneath those cautious eyes.

Moss is a simple guy, really. His favorite things in life include following interesting smells like they’re part of an important forest quest, playing with toys, romping around with his canine friends, and soaking up quiet moments with the people he trusts most.

This handsome boy is crate trained, housebroken, and currently studying very hard in his “How to Be the Best Dog Ever” classes as he works on learning basic commands.

Fully vetted, neutered, vaccinated, microchipped — all the important things — Moss is officially ready to trade his uncertain beginning for a forever home full of love, patience, adventure, and cozy naps.

Somewhere out there, Moss’s perfect family is waiting… preferably with snacks, soft blankets, and plenty of room for sniffing adventures.

NOTE: We do not respond to PetFinder inquiries. You must submit an application, and approved applications are required to schedule a meet and greet.

We do adopt out of state, however you must be willing to come to us in south Georgia. Two Black Dogs Foundation's Adoption Policy
All adopters MUST fill out an application. We do not respond to inquiries submitted through PetFinder. If you have questions about a specific animal feel free to email us, or send us a message on Facebook. Applications are reviewed in the order they are received. If you are approved to adopt a member of our team will contact you. Meet and greets are set up by appointment only after you’ve been approved. In most cases you are allowed to take your new pet home after your meet and greet, unless the animal is too young to be spayed/neutered, in which case you will sign up to foster-to-adopt. We do not hold animals so please do not apply or set up a meet and greet unless you are ready to leave with your new pet. Any vetting done at your own vet clinic will be at your own expense. Spay/neuter included in adoption fee must be done by one of our local partner vet clinics, and adopter is responsible for arranging transportation. All animals adopted through TBDF are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, flea and parasite free and up to date on their preventions. All cats and kittens are FiV/FeLV tested, all dogs over 6 months of age are heartworm tested and treated if positive.
