Moose's Story

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

Moose found himself in the shelter when a new puppy in the home wasn't to his liking. He has been in foster care at Camp Merricks and has proven to be a good house guest. He does have a little resource guarding, but it is manageable. Moose is allowed to have his preferred toys, chew bones and treats in his crate, or in a dog bed away from other dogs. Otherwise, he is pretty indifferent to other dogs as long as they aren't jumping on him and pulling at him. Moose walks on leash okay, though he prefers to just be a home body. He has learned his crate is where he gets food and will readily go in it. If his new home has other dogs we highly recommend feeding in a crate. Moose seems to be housebroken as long as he is given ample opportunity to go outside and potty. He loves to beg for food, which is probably how he got VERY overweight. He is on a diet and we hope to help him shed around 10 lbs. Whoever adopts Moose will need to continue to feed him a well-regulated, healthy diet so he can continue to lose weight and remain healthy for as long as possible. He's a sweet, friendly, guy looking for a family who will appreciate him and his charm.
