Moon's Story

Looking for a dog you will be “over the moon” in love with???

Look no further than Moon! A perfect girl, around 6 years old and weighing in at 70 pounds, Moon is a true gem! Her foster raves about how well-behaved she is and how quickly she meshed with her personal dogs.

Moon has not been crated while in foster care and hasn’t needed to be. She will start the night snuggled between her foster mom and dad but gets hot and eventually ends up on the cool floor. Once she cools off, she is back to snuggling!

Moon is very silly and wiggly. And while she is the sweetest dog, her tail should come with a warning! Her fosters say she has a danger tail because it's long and thin and always wagging. Her whole lower body moves with it and when it hits the wall or door it makes a loud whap. Moon is very happy and playful but not over the top. She is moderately high energy but behaves very well and is easily entertained. She likes to have a toy to carry around and chew.

In her two foster homes she has gotten along extremely well with the resident dogs. She has been briefly with a cat and was fine but did decide after a while it would be fun to chase the cat! So, a home with a dog savvy cat would probably be best.

Moon is old enough that she's moved on from a lot of naughty behaviors. She doesn't really bark or jump, there's just that TAIL! The tail is fierce. Moon is a voracious eater; she uses a slow feeder and eats separately from other dogs. Moon is not very gentle when taking treats. With her head almost level with the counter when she stretches her neck, she has the means to be a counter surfer. Although she hasn't done much surfing. It’s best to always be watchful and proactive by moving food from the front of the counter.

Moon is a lovely mature girl who has a lot of love to give to just about any family! Some lucky family will hit the jackpot with this beautiful girl!

Moon will be available for adoption in RI on, or after, May 8th, 2026

If you are interested in Moon and are an approved adopter, please contact your Adoption Coordinator to be added to Moon’s list. If you are a not yet approved, you can find our adoption guidelines and application at: www.savealabrescue.org

Moon is fostered in RI
