Moon's Story

Hi, my name is Moon! I'm a PURPLE pawprint, which means I will fit well into a home that meets some specific criteria. Here is what would work best for me in my new home:

-Personality: Goofy, Affectionate
-Can Live with Kids: Yes, STURDY dog-savvy kids of any age.
-Can Live with Cats: Likely okay with SLOW & SUPERVISED introductions.
-Can Live with Dogs: No thanks. Moon can be selective with other dogs and would do best as an only child.
-Can do Apartment Living: Yes
-Potty Trained: Appears to be!
-Bite History: Nope
-Positive Reward Based Obedience Classes Required: Yes, one private lesson
-Energy Level: Medium
-Needs Medical Procedure Before Going Home: No
-Additional Information:
Moon is a lovely older pit mix with a heart as big as her smile. This sweet lady is going through a bit of a rough patch with a skin allergy, which has her feeling pretty itchy these days—but if you’ve got hands ready for a good booty scratch, you’ll instantly become her favorite person. Seriously, she will do just about anything for some quality scratch time! Though Moon is young at heart, she is slowing down a bit and suffering from some arthritis. She would benefit from shedding a few pounds to stay comfortable and keep doing all the dog things she loves, and she’ll need a family committed to helping her stay on track with a healthy routine. She can't be as active as she wants to be, but loves to go on short leash walks or mosey around a fenced backyard. Moon is looking for a home that understands the needs of a senior pup, one that can provide consistent veterinary care, regular grooming to help manage her skin, and a balanced diet to keep her feeling her best.

If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application on our website (www.whatcomhumane.org/adopt) or in person at our facility. We recommend calling into the shelter after your application has been submitted so our front desk can give you next steps on our adoption process.
