Monte's Story
PLEASE READ FULLY BEFORE INQUIRING – WE RESPOND FIRST TO THOSE WHO PUT IN AN ADOPTION APPLICATION

MONTE IS CURRENTLY FOSTERED NEAR CEDAR RAPIDS, IA

Monte is a truly special dog who has been waiting far too long for his forever home. After spending nearly seven months in a Houston shelter, a Texas family stepped up to foster him — never expecting he would be with them for almost two years. He is very loved where he is, but Monte deserves a forever family to call his own.

Monte is a mixed breed dog with a wonderful, balanced personality. He recently graduated from a board-and-train program where he learned excellent manners and leash skills. He walks very well on leash, listens nicely, and loves his daily walks.

He enjoys running around the yard, playing with toys, and then relaxing on the couch. He can be slightly independent at times, but once he bonds with you, he is affectionate, loyal, and loving. Monte is crate trained and thrives with structure and routine.

Important information regarding other pets:
While out for a walk with his foster family, Monte was attacked by stray dogs. He did not fight back, but the experience understandably made him more cautious around unfamiliar dogs. With slow, calm introductions, he has done well with larger, lower-energy dogs and may enjoy the right companion. He simply needs time and patience. Monte would do best in a home without cats.

Monte is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, on monthly preventatives, and microchipped. His adoption fee is $300.

If you’re interested in giving Monte the forever home he deserves, please complete our adoption application linked below.

Adoption Application:
https://form.jotform.com/222645266803053

Email:
tailsintransit@gmail.com

Since most of our animals are found as strays, we cannot guarantee breed or age.
