Monkey's Story
Monkey is probably between 2-4 years old and had a really rough start to life. She was found as a stray and turned into animal control back in October 2024. When she first came to rescue, she could not be touched and, for the first 3-4 months, she avoided all human contact. She has made great progress and will tolerate human touch but does not actively seek it out. Monkey will need someone who is home almost all of the time as she has some pretty severe separation anxiety. She has been working on crate training since coming into the rescue but does need to be let out about every 4 hours or she will have accidents. In a new environment, this may regress and may need to be taken out sooner. She must be crated when not supervised as she chews and consumes things that could lead to a bowel obstruction. Monkey does love to play with other canine friends around her size and will require a confident dog in the home that is able to wrestle and play rough to help her continue on her journey to trusting humans. A fenced yard is also required as she is not a huge fan of going potty on a leash. We do not expect that Monkey will ever want to be someone's lap dog and are looking for a very special person who understands that it will take time for her to trust someone new. Due to her timidness, she would not do well in a home with children - not even visiting. She is spayed, heartworm negative, and up to date on vaccinations and heartworm preventative. Her adoption donation is $500. Please email angelpawspet2023@gmail.com to request an application.
