Meet MONKEY

Monkey is an approximately 6 year old purebred border collie who has had a rough life up until now. Please note, this hasn't effected his happy attitude and his love for humans.

Monkey had to have one of his front legs amputated a little over one year ago after being kicked by a horse and the repair surgery did't work out as they had planned. He gets around very well on 3 legs. Then in early April, 2022 he was hit by a car. He has a fractured pelvis that is healing well.

Monkey gets along with other dogs and is said to be good with cats. He is housetrained and crate trained and is a dog that is happy to do your bidding. He is also very devoted and will gaze lovingly into his foster mom's eyes. He is a very good boy!

He is a few pounds overweight, but will soon be at his goal weight of about 40 pounds. He has no idea he is special needs and will try to jump into and out of his foster mom's SUV, but we do not allow him to do that so he doesn't injure himself. His new human will need to be able to lift him in and out unless you have a low vehicle. Another possibility is to train him to use a ramp. He does ride well once loaded up.

We have not yet heard Monkey bark. He loves to lay out in the yard and enjoy the sights and smells of nature. He has some broken teeth and is on the schedule to have a dental with xrays. This cost will be covered by the rescue.

If you need a happy, devoted companion in your life please submit an application. The app is located here: http://idawg.org/application.html.

Monkey's adoption fee is $250. He is neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations and it will also include his dental.
