Then she takes a few more steps and checks again.<br/><br/>She is a 9 year old black and white pit bull mix with a bright white face and one dark patch around her eye that makes her look like she is always paying close attention.<br/><br/>Monique had a family, and when they fell on hard times she was moved outside to live on a chain before she came to us. Walking on a leash is new to her, and she is learning it now for the first time in her life. She is still getting to know us, and she likes to take her time doing it. When she does decide about you, you get the big open mouth grin in her photos.<br/><br/>She would suit someone who gets a kick out of watching a dog figure out new things. A senior girl like Monique does not ask for much: a soft bed inside, her walks, and a person who keeps showing up.<br/><br/>A few honest things before you apply. Monique will do best with a patient adult home where she can set the pace. We do not yet know how she does with other dogs, cats, or children.<br/><br/>We prefer to schedule appointments for meet and greets to make sure someone is available to spend time with you. The shelter is open Monday through Friday, 12pm to 4pm, and appointments outside of those hours may be available based on volunteer availability.
