Monica's Story

COURTESY POST! This is a courtesy post for Foster South LA, please email: fostersouthladogs@gmail.com for more information.

Meet Monica (aka Momo, Mumu, Mona) — the sensitive supermodel with a heart of gold. She's 4 years old and 41 lbs!

Monica is a gorgeous, intelligent girl who shines once she feels safe and understood. She’s a sensitive soul who can get a bit overwhelmed by noise or chaos, but she’s already learned to seek comfort in her cozy crate and happily heads to her “place” when asked. She absolutely loves relaxing in the yard and finds a lot of peace simply being outside.

Out and about, Monica is a dream to walk. She checks in often (“watch me” is her specialty, especially if treats are involved!) and after she gets her initial sniffs in, she settles into an easy, rhythmic stroll. No pulling, no reactivity — just a lovely walking partner. She’s also restful and relaxed in the car.

At home, Monica has recently discovered the joy of toys and fetch! She has a gentle mouth, is learning “drop,” and her goofy, loping gait during playtime is guaranteed to make you smile. She’s also an enthusiastic fly catcher, which is both adorable and handy.

Monica would do best in a calmer home with middle-school–aged kids or older — predictable routines help her feel safe. She’s showing improvement around cats but still finds them a little too exciting, so a cat-free home is best for now. She recently had a wonderful playdate with another dog and did great! Monica has shown she can play appropriately and truly enjoys the company of another canine friend. She’d likely thrive with a friendly, confident resident dog who can help guide her and continue building her confidence.

Monica is blossoming more every day and will thrive with someone who appreciates a sensitive, smart dog and can give her a gentle, structured environment. If you’re looking for a beautiful companion who will reward your patience with devotion, playfulness, and endless sweetness, Monica might be your girl.

For more information email: fostersouthladogs@gmail.com or apply to adopt and meet Monica: https://www.fostersouthla.com/adopt-a-dog
