Monica's Story

Meet Monica! She’s a 3-month-old Cattle Dog/Australian Shepherd mix with a bright spirit, a gentle heart, and the sweetest little personality.

Monica is one of those puppies who wins everyone over instantly. She’s naturally affectionate, loves being close to her humans, and has a soft, thoughtful way of interacting with the world. She may start off a tiny bit shy, but she warms up quickly — and once she does, she’s all cuddles, tail wags, and happy little hops.

She’s also incredibly smart and observant. Monica notices everything, learns quickly, and is already showing the classic Cattle Dog braininess. Whether she’s exploring the yard, investigating new smells, or following you around to see what you’re up to, she does it all with curiosity and enthusiasm.

Monica loves other dogs and would be thrilled to have a playmate. She’s also the perfect age to grow into the world of adventures — hikes, camping, lakes, you name it. She’s ready to be someone’s loyal little sidekick.

She’s up-to-date on vaccines, just too young to be spayed, and is excited to meet the family that will give her the love she deserves.

Monica is currently in Riverton, WY, but transport can be arranged to a loving home almost anywhere. ??

Friends of Wind River Humane Society's Adoption Policy
At Friends of Wind River Humane Society, our adoption process is designed to set both dogs and adopters up for long-term success. We take the time to ensure each placement is a thoughtful match, prioritizing the well-being, safety, and happiness of every animal and family. Our adoption process includes the following steps: 1. Submission of online application by prospective adopter - this includes collecting key information such as household details, existing pets, vet references, landlord approval (if renting), and experience with animals. 2. Detailed application review by a member of our team - one of our dedicated volunteers/team members carefully reviews each application, looking for the best match for the animal’s needs. 3. Phone/virtual screening by a member of our team - one of our dedicated volunteers/team members, often from one of our foster caregivers, walk through the application questions in more detail, giving our team a solid understanding of the prospective adopter's lifestyle, expectations, experience with animals, etc. 4. "Meet and greet" with dog(s) of interest/compatibility - prospective adopters are invited to meet the animal, ideally in person if location permits or via video; if adopters have other pets and location permits, a controlled meet-and-greet might be arranged at this stage. 5. Final approval and adoption - if our team and the prospective adopter feel positive and wish to proceed following the "meet and greet, " an adoption agreement is signed and transport is arranged for the dog to their new home; depending on distance, this could include transport support provided by our organization; adopters are provided documentation of all medical history, microchip information, etc.
