Mona's Story

Meet Mona, the long-eared masterpiece herself. If the Mona Lisa had a Basset hound sister, this would be her — same mysterious expression, same quiet confidence, same “I know something you don’t” energy.

Mona is a 6-year-old lady who has perfected the art of being charming without even trying. One look into those soft, droopy eyes and you’ll swear she’s silently judging your life choices… but in the most supportive way possible. She’s classy, she’s calm, and she moves through the world like a queen who doesn’t rush for anybody.

Mona is the perfect mix of cuddly companion and independent woman. She enjoys soft blankets, slow strolls, and a cozy spot where she can keep an eye on her kingdom. She gets along with other dogs, has a gentle temperament, and brings a soothing presence to any room she enters.

She is fully vetted and ready to start her new life:
• Spayed
• Microchipped
• Heartworm negative
• Current on all preventions

If you’re looking for a loyal, low-key best friend with a face that belongs in a museum, Mona is your girl. Adoption Process: If you are interested in adopting one of our pets, please complete an application. Application can be found at http://www.mercyrescueandadoption.com/adopt-a-pet.html. Completing an application does not hold the pet for you. A visit can be arranged to meet the prospective pet after an application is on file. A home-visit will be required. We check personal references and vet references prior to all adoptions. All of our animals are spayed/neutered before they are adopted. Approval of any application is at the discretion of the Animal Shelter volunteers, and will be made in the interests of finding the best permanent home for our animals. You must be at least 18 years old to adopt a pet. No animal will be adopted to persons that have a confirmed history of neglect or abuse of animals. No animal will be adopted to persons that have a repeat history of losing, giving away, selling, or having animals injured or killed. Only dogs that are physically and temperamentally suited to living outdoors will be adopted as outside dogs.
