MOLLY MAE's Story
? About Molly Mae
Molly Mae is a 6-year-old dachshund with a story that will melt your heart. After suffering a spinal injury caused by Intervertebral Disc Disease (IVDD), she was left partially paralyzed with 40% spinal compression and spent two long years confined to a laundry room before finally being surrendered.
From the moment she arrived at Kentucky Dachshund Rescue, Molly began her incredible road to recovery. With the help of her foster family, she’s undergone weekly hydrotherapy, laser therapy, and gentle range-of-motion exercises — and her progress has been amazing. This determined little girl can now walk short distances on her own, taking well-earned breaks between steps. Every wobbly stride is a victory.

? Medical & Care Information
• IVDD survivor: 40% spinal compression and muscle atrophy, but gaining strength daily
• Mobility: Walks short distances on her own; uses a drag bag or wheelchair as needed
• Bladder: Regaining partial control; foster mom expresses her bladder 4× daily to prevent infection
• Bowel: No control currently, but therapy may improve this over time
• Potty training: Improving! Molly tries to go outside and thrives on routine
• Vaccines: Fully up to date
• Spayed: Yes
• Medications: None required currently
• Therapies: Ongoing hydrotherapy, laser therapy, and home exercises — and she keeps up beautifully with her foster siblings!
Molly is not in pain and loves life. She’s comfortable, happy, and adored by everyone who meets her — she refuses to be left behind in the pack.
? Personality
Molly Mae is pure sunshine in a small, wobbly package. She’s playful, affectionate, and endlessly determined. She loves squeaky toys, her plush lobster, belly rubs, cozy blankets, and cuddles — and most of all, spending time near her person.
She’s also a sassy talker who loves to share her opinions and air her grievances (politely, of course). She takes every challenge in stride and never loses her joy.
Molly will always have some physical limitations, but she doesn’t let that slow her down — and she doesn’t want pity, just love. She may not be the “ideal” choice for everyone, but the right person will see her for who she truly is: a miracle in motion and a reminder that love and patience can heal even the deepest wounds.

? Ideal Home
Molly would do best with someone who works from home, is retired, or can provide a consistent care routine and companionship. Her perfect home should have:
• Easy access to the outdoors
• A compassionate heart and gentle hands
• Someone with IVDD experience — or the patience and willingness to learn
She gets along wonderfully with people, other dogs, and cats, and thrives with gentle companionship.
? Adoption Status
Molly Mae is up to date on all vaccines and will be ready for adoption after October 17, 2025!
She comes with her loving spirit and a heart full of joy for her future family.
??
