Moe's Story
Moe is a 2-year-old, 11-pound male Chihuahua mix from Alabama. Moe is a sweet, gentle, and affectionate pup with the loveliest soul.

He has adjusted very well during his time in NYC. Moe enjoys going for walks, curling up in a warm lap, and earning treats, especially cheese which is definitely the way to his heart. He is also a big fan of giving kisses and spending time close to his foster family.

Moe is a very well-behaved and obedient dog. He is still learning basic commands but he is eager to please and responds well to gentle guidance and positive reinforcement.

During his time in NYC, Moe has been working on housetraining. He is working on building a consistent potty routine with regular outdoor breaks and positive reinforcement. He continues to make steady progress.

Moe is great on a leash. He walks calmly without pulling and is a pleasure to take out around the neighborhood. He is friendly with both people and other dogs. He can be shy when first meeting new people, but he usually warms up within a day or two. Once he feels comfortable, he becomes very attached and will happily follow you from room to room.

His forever family will need to continue working with Moe to reinforce the progress he has been making.

Moe can have a little separation anxiety, but he generally self-regulates well and settles down when left alone. He loves being cozy with his foster family and is most often found curled up right next to them. He is truly a lap dog and is happiest when he is close to you. He is not a fan of the crate. He is much calmer, more relaxed, and more able to rest when he is outside of the crate. Because of this, the crate door is usually left open so he has the choice to go in if he wants to, but he almost always prefers to stay out where he feels more comfortable and secure.

Moe is looking for a quiet to medium energy home. He enjoys both downtime and leisurely adventures. He would do well as a solo dog or with another calm, friendly dog. He gets along well with the resident dog in his foster home, although and not very interested in active play.

Because Moe is such a gentle and sensitive soul, he would do best with an adopter who is calm, patient, and gentle. He may need a little time to build trust but once he feels safe, he forms a deep bond and becomes incredibly loyal. We would recommend a home with older children who can respect his space and allow him to settle in at his own pace.

Moe may be shy at first, but underneath that is a very loving dog who enjoys giving kisses and being by your side. Once he trusts you, he becomes a devoted companion who does not want to leave your side.

Vaccinated for rabies, DHPP, and bordetella, spayed/neutered and microchipped. Negative for heartworm disease and current on flea, tick, and heartworm prevention.

To apply for Moe, visit our website (www.waggytailrescue.org) for an adoption application. It is important to fill out an application as soon as possible for consideration, and we require a complete application for you to meet an animal. We are currently unable to respond to general email inquiries as an all-volunteer run rescue. If the dog is on our website, they are still available.

Waggytail Rescue CANNOT guarantee the exact age of any adoptable dog, or final size of any of our adoptable puppies. We rely on the information provided to us by veterinarians, shelters, owner surrenders and other circumstances bringing the dog into our rescue.

Adoptions: adopt@waggytailrescue.org
