Moe's Story
9/3/25:
Foster to adopt home needed!

We would like to reintroduce everyone to Moe, our sweet 2 year old, 12# Chihuahua boy! Although he had a rough start in life, he is warming up to his foster family beautifully. He is house trained but will go on pee pads when you aren't home to let him out. Moe loves going on walks and when not sniffing the grass, he will be right by your side or directly in front of you (he is still learning the walk routine but almost there!)

He loves to play and wrestle with other dogs in the home and would love to have a playful doggy friend at a new home, too. Moe is incredibly loyal and affectionate and will follow you wherever you go just in case you decide you want to pet him on my soft, velvety head which he looooves!

He is good being handled and picked up when approached gently. If you are on the couch, he will happily jump up to snuggle up next to you for a nap.
Moe is very shy at first and is worried about new people who come to the house because as he is still learning that he is safe at home. He has become more brave and more comfortable in his foster home but he would probably do best in a low traffic home without young kids. Moe loves HIS people and is happiest when it is just his family!

Moe is a quick learner and will likely follow other dogs in the home with their routine. He is more of a follower then a leader, with all the playful Chihauhua energy in a small, delightful package. If you just give him a chance, we are sure you'll fall in love!

If you've been looking for a small dog that needs you as much as you need him, and don't mind helping him work through some trust issues, share in some cuddle time and return to love you give him, 10 fold, please fill out an application and ask about Moe or one of our other adoptable pets! He will need some work with housebreaking and training, but with a little time and patience, we are sure he will steal your heart!

Due to his size, age and temperament, foster to adopt requirements are:

-Living within 80 miles of Adams, NY.
-Having previous/current pets in annually at a local veterinary office and up to date on vaccines as well as spay/neutered.
-Being able to bring him back to our vets office in Adams if additional care will be needed prior to adoption. After adoption, we recommend taking them to your current vet to be established.
-Moe does well with likesized dogs and he doesn't seem to interested in the dog savy cats in his foster home
-Adult homes would be best since it takes Moe a while to warm up to new people and he tends to shy away from loud noises and fast movement.
-Willing to have current family members come to a meet and greet to meet the pet and be sure an acceptable match.
-Having time available to care for, socialize and start the training of a new pet.
-Applicants with a fenced yard will be prioritized, though it is not a requirement.

An adoption donation of $450 is being asked if you choose to adopt, but fostering is free. He has had an initial vet check, is current on vaccines, dewormings and prescription flea and tick medications and has been neutered

For more information submit an application at https://form.jotform.com/Meowchatz/pet-adoption-application-form

Please help us to continue helping those that knock on our doors!

7/8/25: Everyone, we'd like to reintroduce you to Moe! This sweet ~2 year Chihuahua boy is ~12# and full of love to give! When we took him in, it took several days for his foster to be able to handle him. Moe came from a home with other dogs but most had not been properly socialized. It took him several weeks to trust his foster enough to allow him to be picked up, despite him following her all over the house. Moe is a very affectionate little dog, but still doesn't care to be carried around. He will jump on your lap, elicit lots of pets and attention and be right at your heels but he prefers affection and attention on his terms. He needs someone to tread lightly on his heart and give him time to learn to trust them. Once he has settled in, he will be yours forever??

Moe needs additional work on housetraining but is a quick learner and will likely follow other dogs in the home with their routine.

He is gentle and playful, softspoken, yet shy, inquisitive and social once he gets to know you. He will likely take a few days before he warms up in any new home, so a quiet adult home is being sought to give him the time and tools he needs to be the bestest boy.

Moe is not destructive in the home and uses wee pads pretty consistently. At just about 10#, he is a good size for any lap and he likes belly rubs. One of his favorite spots in the home is in the laundry basket, however, on top of a soft load of clothes.

We are looking for a foster to adopt home for this little sweetie, maybe yours?

Fostering is free, but if you choose to adopt, an adoption donation of $450 is being asked to cover a portion of his veterinary and care fees.
