Meet Mochi! She is a 6 year old that was rescued from a dog meat farm in South Korea. We have partners we work with there that pull these dogs from the worst horrors imaginable. Many of these dogs start off in horiffic puppy mill type facilities on tiny rabbit cage size wire crates in complete filth. If they are not sold at 6 or 8 weeks then they either stay for a couple years to be used to breed more and then are sold off to the meat trade, or they are sold off right away. Jindo&#39;s and Tosa&#39;s are the most common meat type dogs, and are very commonly bred specifically for their meat and the meat farms also act as breeding farms until they reach a good age and weight. South Korea is one of the only countries that actually farms dogs for their meat.<br/>Restaurants will serve a dish called &#34;<br/>bosintang<br/>&#34;, which stands for &#34;dog meat soup&#34;. It&#39;s a popular dish in South<br/>Korea,<br/>and is said to act as an aphrodisiac for men.<br/>Little dogs are used for elixirs and potions. The younger generation is mostly against this practice and many choose to not eat them, and we can only hope in time with education and generations of change that an end will come to this horrific trade. Chocomi and some of her family and friends have been flown here for a chance at a future and a real life. These are miracle dogs that they are alive today. Mochi was brought over from Korea 3 years ago and was quickly adopted out. Devastatingly for Mochi, her family has had a new baby and now can no longer keep her. Here is a biography of things they have said about her.<br/><br/>Mochi is an outgoing goofball of a dog who loves to go out on adventures and explore. Don&#39;t let her photos fool you, she looks big in photos but she is 22 lbs.<br/><br/>She has spent the last three years in a loving home, but is unfortunately not well suited for living with infants due to a sleep-startle reflex from her traumatic history. Also if she is eating she wants to be left alone.<br/><br/>She is house-trained, knows her basic commands, will heel when on walks, and tends to be easy to train due to being food motivated.<br/><br/>While we don&#39;t know the exact details of her past, we suspect based on behavior that she did not get the best start in life and was used for breeding, was beaten, and had her puppies taken away at a young age.<br/><br/>She is still learning how to play with toys and tends to take cues from other dogs. it is better if she is in a home with other confident dogs to show her the ropes.<br/><br/>Mochi&#39;s favorite thing is getting in the car to head off to a new place to explore, she loves hikes, and is excited to see other dogs..<br/><br/>At home she is independent and often spends long periods of time outside on the lookout for squirrels and lizards that threaten the backyard.<br/><br/>Once she knows you and loves you she will get in cuddly moods and lean against you for support and love.<br/><br/>Mochi does well with routine, and prefers daily activity and free access to the backyard.<br/><br/>If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application form at https://form.jotform.com/oscarlucy/dog-adoption-app
